Yes to some extent, it’s given me insight in to how people think

A jelly cured my hiccups, I’ve gotten some great recipes here, and oh, yeah, learned a lot of really cool stuff. The fact that arguments have to be coherently worded makes a huge difference to comprehension.

I’ve gotten good advice about some things going on and met some great people. Fluther can be a great distraction for me, which is really needed sometimes.

It helps me. I learn something new, I swear, everyday. I am going to pickle some green beans today. People here are awesome.

Yes.

And, no.

It’s helped in several ways actually. In all the answers I’ve given here, it’s helped me write better, I’ve learned so many new things from other Flutherites responses, and it has enabled me to meet many interesting and wonderful people from all over the country and the world. That’s probably the best part I believe.

Has it shaped my world view differently? I’m not exactly sure but it has shaped my ability to be more open minded about many different thoughts and ideas and to be more receptive to subjects that I once thought were questionable or bothersome to me.

Has it reinforced my ideology? I don’t believe so.

Has it given me new ideas, thoughts, or passions? It’s accomplished what I previous stated in the beginning of this answer and I’ll always be grateful for that.

I believe so. Jellies gave me support and sympathy when I was sick. I found a number of people who have the same problems I do. I got me started on an adventure that taught me some very important lessons.

In addition, I have received some practical answers to questions. I have been notified of issues in the public sphere that I would not have been aware of otherwise. So often, I learn things here days before my friends and family become aware of them.

I don’t think my world view or my ideology have changed. Perhaps this is because I have already done a lot of thinking about issues that come up here. It does give me a chance to share many of my ideas that otherwise would just sit there in my brain. Maybe they help others gain better insight into these kinds of issues. I doubt if they change anyone’s opinions.

Fluther has played an important role in my life over the last two and a quarter years. I spend a lot of time here, and it has helped me resurrect my self-esteem, which had been sinking into the quicksand for years before that.

Fluther has turned me in to an atheist. And I feel grateful for it.

Yes. It’s reinforced my belief that good people exist all over the world. I’ve also fallen in love with a member; I can’t begin to describe how awesome that is.

Before I joined Fluther, I was struggling with a bout of depression caused by a number of things. The majority of my friends were busy with their own issues (family woes, academics, relationships, etc.) and I felt a certain painful degree of loneliness. Joining Fluther helped. It helped a lot. The various causes of my depression have since then worked out and I am once again content in life :)

Has it shaped you world view differently? A bit, yes. There are Jellies here from all walks of life and reading their views has been one of my greatest joys.
Has it reinforced your ideology? Yes. It’s rare to be among such a diversity of individuals but it is equally rare (for me) to be among those who share my views.
Has it given you new ideas, thoughts, or passions? Nothing immediately came to mind. I’ll have to ponder this one a little longer.

Has Fluther helped? Yes, in that it is a vehicle for connecting a group of people who have diverse interests and talents, yet generally have the common desire to help others. It is the people on this site that have provided the actual assistance.

Has it shaped your world view differently? Possibly. As a US citizen, it is easy to get caught up in our own country’s news, problems and lifestyles and lose perspective of the bigger picture. There have been an overwhelming amount of posts that help suck me back out of the US rabbit hole.

Has it reinforced your ideology? Yes, when it comes to humanity. It is fascinating how many take time out of their own personal lives to assist strangers. There have been some truly humbling posts made that allow others to see that we all have our burdens to overcome.

Has it given you new ideas, thoughts, or passions? Yes…too many to name.

I’d love to say it has really I would, but i’d be lying. I mean, it’s almost always fun & frequently informative, but that’s as far as it goes for me.

Yes to all

Has it shaped you world view differently?
Yes, fluther has brought people from all over into one little interactive spot.

Has it reinforced your ideology?
Yes, in a way. I have this belief all humans have an interconnectivity and getting grouped together on a site even though we’re all geographically separate has often shown me a collective energy that has surges, ebbs and flows. Whoever picked the Jellyfish and idea of a pool for this community was spot on.

Has it given you new ideas, thoughts, or passions?
Yes! Where else could I get live feedback from such a varied pool of people on so many subjects? Fluther has been informative, social and also therapeutic at times.

Well, it does my laundry and makes me coffee.

I’ve become somewhat addicted, but since all my past social sites have crashed and disappeared, I’m always wary of committing 100%. Like in real life.

Change of nickname notwithstanding, I’ve asked more questions than most, except for maybe Daloon – and have contributed (or polluted) many thousands of posts. I have indeed invested a lot of time and energy here – to what avail?

It’s become a blog of sorts – and I especially like calling it that – what with its nautical theme. You got it, right? Blog = Web Log, weblog, blog. Log comes from “to enter into a log book,” 1823, from logbook “daily record of a ship’s speed, progress, etc.” (1679), which is so called because wooden floats were used to measure a ship’s speed. To log in in the computing sense is attested from 1963. (Dictionary.com)

Yes and no. I have a harsh inner voice, and I most often lay into myself for having said something I think was thoughtless, or unfounded, or irrelevant, or a lame joke, or stupid in some other way. The inner criticism grew much stronger after I spent a while on Fluther, both because of factors external to the site and because of the site’s way of being occasionally extremely upsetting if you are someone who is prone to taking things seriously. After taking a break and coming back, fluthering still awakens the voice. But I am learning to tell it to shut the hell up, because I very much dislike being hesitant to speak. I think Fluther is helping me practice speaking up again. I also think it has helped me flesh out my own ideas about some things, and that it has helped me be more polite online, and be more calm in debating in general.
