Will any mobile phone companies give you a new number forwarding message when you change your number?

with land lines you can get a forward message on your old number to inform caller of your new number, even a different area code. This may only be for a few weeks. Is the same available for changing cell phone numbers and carriers.

Two things: You can forward your phone number to a new carrier now, so you don't need to change your number if you don't want to.

I think the only way to have a forwarding message is to pay for both carriers for a bit and change your voice mail message on your old phone.
