What about a flat screen tv on top of the refrigerator? Will electromagnetic rays screw it up?

Asked by janedelila (3914points) October 18th, 2010

I had a regular tv on top of my refrigerator for a few years, and took it down to put it in my daughter’s room. It had a big green blotch tint in the lower right quarter. My friend, an electrician, told me it was because of the electromagnetics from the refrigerator. When I put it back on, the blotch disappeared. It would only be blotch free on top of the refrigerator. Does anyone know?

A LCD TV will be fine. You can put a huge speaker next to a CRT TV and it will do the same. The condenser in the fridge is acting like a big magnet. A LCD TV should not be bothered by it.

@johnpowell thank you. I just didn’t want to mess up my new tv but I want it in the kitchen and I don’t have the wall space and hate to take up the counter.
