Do you believe Scrabble to be a spelling game or a word strategy game?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) October 19th, 2010

Most of the time it is easier to talk a person into a root canal than play a round of Scrabble because they think it is a spelling game. You have to spell but just being a good speller won’t make you a winner. I have seen player rack up near 50 points off one word many times no more than 4 letters. What do you believe Scrabble is, a spelling game or a word strategy game?

word strategy, and the size of your arsenal of words.

It’s definitely a word strategy game. Especially if you have a Scrabble dictionary out while playing, then spelling doesn’t really matter at all. Spelling is kind of a given, but you win the game by knowing words and knowing where to place them.

Most definitely a word strategy game.

Word strategy. I disagree, coincidentally. Spelling is not one of my husband’s strengths, but he is always up for a game of Scrabble. May possibly be his favorite game.

I prefer to call it word pwnage! I almost always lose, mostly to the kids :¬(

Word strategy. Spelling is a lesser factor as you won’t be spelling any words more than 7 letters long.
