Genetics, apparently.

@Nullo Interesting article. All my siblings sleepwalk and my brother, his son, and I all do some of the exact same things when we’re asleep.

Lack of dopamine, which paralyses the body during sleep and prevents you from carrying out the actions in your dreams. That’s what I’ve heard, but it might be an oversimplification.

I heard that it happens when someone doesn’t go into sleep paralysis when they fall asleep.

Sleepwalkers arise from the slow wave sleep stage in a state of low consciousness and perform activities that are usually performed during a state of full consciousness. These activities can be as benign as sitting up in bed, walking to the bathroom, and cleaning, or as hazardous as cooking, driving, extremely violent gestures, grabbing at hallucinated objects, or even homicide.

I would think that in a persons dream they are running from something and their body responded phisically in their sleep. Or in thier dream, a person could be hungry and thier body says “GO TO FRIDGE”, so they wa;k to the fridge. Or that person might be crazy and delusional.
