Where is the lurve?

Asked by ANef_is_Enuf (26839points) October 20th, 2010

Is it just me, or does it seem like less lurve is being passed around?
I have always been a little bit lurve happy, I give lurve all the time. I hate seeing answers or questions with that little “0” next to them… but lately I feel like I’ve been going into questions that have been open for a while and seeing long strings of zeros. Am I imagining that, or is there less lurve being given lately?

GQ and IMO you are right to question this. Not that it is a HUGE deal but I see so many Jellies agreeing with good answers or good questions and no Lurve to back it up! We need a pie in the face button for moments like those!! XD

@Cruiser I am one of those people that goes around the empty threads and gives lurve to abandoned GA’s.
It does bother me when I see someone agreeing with someone, or even going so far as to say “GA”, but not giving the lurve. I don’t think lurve is a big deal.. but it is just a part of fluther that I enjoy. I like that I can push a little button and potentially make someone feel special for a split second, maybe that’s just me.

Because of that habit, I can’t help but notice that it seems like way more zeros than usual lately.

Yep. I’ve been noticing the same thing. How hard is it to click on a GA that you find compelling or on a GQ that makes you stop and think?

@Cruiser‘s idea of a pie-in-the-face button is great. SPLAT! Right in the kisser.

@TheOnlyNeffie We have the ability to give lurve for a reason so why not??

@hawaii_jake So what should it be….whipped cream….banana…key lime….or cherry for colorful effect??

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

@Cruiser : I really love key lime pie.

I’ve got all kinds of lurve to give. I’ve been MIA for two months. I’m ready to spread the joy.

:D

I’ve maxed out on all of you though. damn

I’d prefer to get lurve because someone liked my post. Please don’t GA my posts simply because no one has yet.

@Cruiser sneaks up behind @FutureMemory with a coconut creme pie and taps him on the shoulder…

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@FutureMemory I do read the posts before I give GA’s. I didn’t make that very clear. I don’t have to be blown away by the post, but if it answers the question and is well thought out.. I give lurve. Pretty basic.

@TheOnlyNeffie Your answer ”...I can push a little button and potentially make someone feel special for a split second,” You see? Right there! That’s why I like you!
GA! I wish I could give you lurve but alas… I’ve already given you all I’ve got.

I’ve noticed it as well on some threads…probably more so on ones in the General section. And it is weird when someone agrees with a response, but the GA section is at zero. What’s up with that? I’m pretty loose with the lurve, except if I disagree with the answer or it becomes banter between a few Jellies…unless it gets really witty.

@Cruiser How about pumpkin pie with whipped cream for the next month? If that doesn’t change the attitude, can it be switched over to a nice, rock hard fruit cake?

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

Pumpkin pie, that’s genius.

The gimp in the cellar took it all, selfish bastard! :¬)

I have noticed that too. I am lurve happy as well. Sometimes I don’t even answer the question and give lurve down the board as I am reading. It doesn’t cost me anything, plus I like to push buttons.

I’ve noticed that new folks aren’t as likely to give lurve, probably because they don’t really ‘get it’ at first. We have had quite a few new people join recently, so maybe that’s it? As people stick around, they become familiar with the culture, and start to feel the lurve. ;)

Cruiser's avatar

@hawaii_jake You need to know there would not be much if any left of a coconut creme pie to throw with me around!!

@Pied_Pfeffer I like your thinking!! ;)

erichw1504's avatar

I agree. I make sure I always give lurve for answers that are at least decent enough. Especially the funny ones or the ones that supply the best answer to the question.

Keep on lurvin’!

I got nothin but lurve for @TheOnlyNeffie. Bang, there’s some. Bang there’s some more. I am saving all my lurve for you!

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

I sometimes forget to mark a question as a “Great Question” because the “Great Question” button doesn’t stand out to me that much. It camouflages well.
