What are you most afraid of?

Asked by truecomedian (3937points) October 23rd, 2010

What scares you the most?? What thought, idea, crawls up your leg and pops into your head and freaks you out?? Fear of growing old alone, fear of poverty, fear of germs?? For me, it’s being put inside a giant tank filled with aborted fetuses. What scares you, with Halloween approaching and all…

Being raped by an 83yr old woman named Margo, make it go away! :¬(

I don’t know. I’m not afraid of anything…. okay it’s maybe that I worry too much about the people I love but I don’t have any real fears. I used to be afraid of the fact that I’ll die one day but now I just don’t care. I’m only trying to have fun before I’m dead.

partyparty's avatar

Being buried while I am still alive :)

FutureMemory's avatar

Going bald.

Dying before I touch another pair of boobies (you asked!).

In order to get paid, I was given an assignment to learn how to build a website.
I have a fear of not finishing the task. Each time I try to get started, fear comes over me.

partyparty's avatar

@ucme You should be so lucky!! :))))))))

Austinlad's avatar

At the instant I’m writing this, I find myself afraid of nothing !!!

Think I’ll go with that for a while.

truecomedian's avatar

@Austinlad
Really, nothing huh, nothing scares you eh?? Not death, public nudity, or midgets?? I’m scared of just about everything so maybe I should do what you do, live how you live, to take away those fears. Part of me wants to say if you knew enough you’d be afraid, but thats weak.

Dieing right after I retire.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

Grizzly bears and sharks top my list.

truecomedian's avatar

@lucillelucillelucille
ooh sharks, just heard about a guy who was killed by a great white while boogie boarding in Santa Barbara, ate em. Their why I don’t surf. I’m a chicken I know.

The ravenous bugblatter beast of Traal.

Austinlad's avatar

Yes, @truecomedian, really. At the moment I was writing the comment, I was feeling no fear. I didn’t say I’m not afraid of anything—lots of things I could be afraid about if I thought about them. I simply chose—and for now, continue to choose—not the think about them. Why should I on this lovely Saturday morning?

truecomedian's avatar

Ok, I get it. You dont want to answer the question. It’s “what do you fear the most” more than anything. That’s easy to answer. Should be, unless your scared, oooh hhahahahaha

Austinlad's avatar

@truecomedian, kudos for your keen insight, and for summing me up in two sentences. You know me so well !!!

I’m outta this thread. How about you stew in your own fears and leave me to have a pleasant day.

truecomedian's avatar

I know you are but what am I.

ucme's avatar

@partyparty Nah, 82…..now ya talking! :¬)

truecomedian's avatar

@Austinlad
my day is going to kick ass.
@ucme
your avatar kinda freaks me out.

ucme's avatar

@truecomedian Well then it’s served it’s purpose. For now it stays, until Halloween’s been & gone anyhow.

Trillian's avatar

@HungryGuy Here, take this towel and wrap it around your head.
I’m afraid of heights.

gailcalled's avatar

That I will need a care giver in order to be able to tend to my mother, who is clearly going to outlive my sister and me.

@ucme:Kudos for the first “it’s” and boo for the second one, which is “its.”

ucme's avatar

@gailcalled you know, the little things matter so much. Don’t they just?

truecomedian's avatar

you girls and your knitting circle…

Fyrius's avatar

Sometimes I’m afraid that people are right when they say having a social life and someone to love is the only thing worth living for, but when I’ll finally feel ready to open up to people, it’ll be too late.

But I’m more afraid of people violently getting killed or mutilated in gory accidents with heavy machinery.
When it comes down to it, I’m really not such a deep person.

The thing I was always most afraid of has now happened. I’ve survived it—well, I’m working on surviving it. I guess now I can say I’m most afraid of heights.

Blondesjon's avatar

Fucking sock monkeys. Make them go away!

Paradox's avatar

Japenese giant hornets. I’m glad they don’t live around my neck of the woods.

@Blondesjon It looks like someone heard your request and took care of it.

Getting hit by a truck.

tearsxsolitude's avatar

OMG this is a long list!
Spiders scare me to death! I’ll run out of my house if one is crawling on me.
Sharks scare the living sh*t outa me. I went into one of those aquariums that’s all around you and you walk under it and stuff and had a panic attack when a shark swam over me.
I’m also scared of being buried alive. I don’t give it a lot of thought because the chances of it happening are slim but ya.
I’m really freaking scared of small spaces. If I don’t think I can get out or I feel trapped I pretty much spaz out. My little sister locked me in the basement and I had a full blown panic attack. Didn’t even occur to me that there’s a door that leads out the back.

GracieT's avatar

I’m most afraid of being left alone. My main fear is lonliness.

Plucky's avatar

Hmm…
– Spiders
– Clowns
– Violence
– Being stuck in a room with something/someone that wants to kill me.
– Being buried alive.
– Being forgotten after I die.

tearsxsolitude's avatar

@PluckyDog Clowns is a good one and so is your last one. I totally agree with that!

Berserker's avatar

Going blind, and torture.

Sure torture is a far stretch…but, really, it isn’t. Both of these would suck.

OpryLeigh's avatar

Losing the person I love.

Fyrius's avatar

@Symbeline
Why would torture be a far stretch? Plenty of these things are unlikely to actually happen.

Berserker's avatar

That’s why I said it was a far stretch, because it’s probably nowhere in my future. But you never know.

Plucky's avatar

@Leanne1986 I agree with that one too. That scares me alot.

Deja_vu's avatar

Centipedes! I got bitten once, and it was painful.

truecomedian's avatar

44 Answers, I like getting a lot of respones on a question, it stokes me out. I’m scared of a lot of things, most of all I’m afraid of being homeless. Or being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thanks everyone for your input
