Do Christians believe in the big bang?

Most of the people I’ve met say that Christians don’t believe that the big bang happened but recently I asked my science teacher who’s a Methodist if he did and he said he did believe in it.
What’s the general view on this?
Is it because he’s a METHODIST Christian or is it just an individual belief?
