What are your wishes for Fluther?

Asked by prolificus (6583points) October 30th, 2010 from iPhone

What do you wish for this site in particular? What do you wish for the jellies, for the community? What would make your P&J sandwich awesome?

As for me.. I wish for a few things:

1. Some sort of current status board that shows total number of members (both active and inactice), how many members are online, and how many Q&A’s have been posted (since the beginning of Fluther and a breakdown of frequency such as monthly, weekly, daily, hourly – and a graph to show peak usage times).

2. A sidebar widget to show the most popular Q&A’s of all time.

3. The ability to view from my iPhone the jellies I’ve added to the “Follow” list (since the profile change, I’ve not been able to access this list on my iPhone). Also, the ability to view on my iPhone the questions posted by jellies in my Fluther (I can see this list on my laptop, but not on the mobile version).

These are just a few of the wishes I’ve been pondering lately.

You?

Be careful what you wish for.
Sometimes simplicity is a beautiful thing.

I wish for more members to open their minds to others’ opinions and accept that they might not have the right answer for every human being. Life is not black and white.

I hope it prospers for Ben and Andrew so they can finally make us all some guacamole. ;)

I do like the idea of knowing how many people are online. I don’t need to know who is online, but knowing there are several people or just a few will help me in my decision on whether I should retire for the evening or not. Other than that, I’ve got no complaints. I hope the friends that I have made here stick around as long as I do. They make Fluther complete for me.

I’d just like the same preview feature for PM’s that there are for posts so I can verify my links and’or see that my emphasized text is, indeed, emphasized and not filled with funky dashes and lines. I have simple needs. And I’d like my coffee refreshed automatically as I sit here imparting my wisdom to the coelenterate world.

I wish we could get paid for being here.

I wish Fluther would have an annual convention where many of us could get together and hang out and meet each other in person. Fluthercon….it rolls off the tongue rather nicely.

partyparty's avatar

@Bluefreedom Ah yes that sounds good to me :)

My wishes for Fluther are this:

I would like to see Fluther grow as big as Google but still keep on mission.

I want Fluther to be known globally as the most intelligent and friendly place on the Internet.

I want Fluther to be the FIRST place people search to find answers.

For Fluther to earn enough revenue so that The founders can enjoy the site as much as we do.
I want Andrew to be able to act more too.

@Dog “I want Fluther to be the FIRST place people search to find answers.”

Answers or Opinions?

There would definitely need to be more effort put towards the cloud hierarchy with a more detailed ranking system than exists currently. But your dream is not so unrealistic.

Dog's avatar

@RealEyesRealizeRealLies Answers- because opinions come naturally where ever humans interact. But now that you mention it if social also had a stronger philosophic bend it would be great too. I love intelligent, well thought out and reasoned discussions.

RealEyesRealizeRealLies's avatar

The rating system would need to be improved, giving kudos for “well thought answers” and hypothesis, yet also credit for scientifically researched answers, which should hold more weight than opinions. The philosophy would follow naturally, as insights as to how new discoveries actually affect our humanity, or could be envisioned to.

Live long & prosper! Oh shit, trekky speak! How could I stoop so low. Ah well, the sentiment is key anyway :¬)

I belong to the school of, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Fluther seems fine the way it is!

RealEyesRealizeRealLies's avatar

I belong to the school of, “if it’s broke, it’s cause we broke it”.

AmWiser's avatar

If it’s broke, because we broke it, maybe it’s because we didn’t appreciate it in the first place.

Looks guys, this question isn’t a debate about “to fix or not to fix,” or about the evils of wishes, or about the “sky is falling” panic attack for suggesting there be any changes whatsoever. If you don’t like or want change to Fluther, a simple “I wish Fluther to remain as it is” would suffice. To answer as such would have been an answer to the question. To be honest, it feels like a large percentage of the answers are not answers at all to the question. I wish jellies would answer the question instead of circumventing it – this is another wish I’m adding to the list.

RealEyesRealizeRealLies's avatar

Oh, well since you put it that way, noting that your wishes are more important to you than the self expressive apologetic explanations of the individual point of view in relationship to the collective consciousness at this point in history when truth propositions are often objectified on an subjective interpersonal 30 degree slope divided by the circumference of the average mango popsicle on a sunny day… then of course, “I wish Fluther to remain as it is”.

I would like to be able to tag some questions to save under my profile so I can find them easily. Ones with great references or interesting information that I find mysekf going back to over and over again.

I like the idea of being able to gather statistics, like how many people are signed up, how many questions are asked per month, and how many people from each country, stuff like that.

I am not sure fluther will ever be the first place people go to look up a topic, but I think it could easily be the first site people go to for a discussion.

jrpowell's avatar

I wish we still solved problems.

While, “What do you think about the unitard bomber?” is technically a question. It doesn’t help solve a problem. And that is why I contribute less.

RealEyesRealizeRealLies's avatar

That’s why we need a fashion category.

Blondesjon's avatar

I wish Fluther would make my teeth whiter and my cock bigger.

oh wait . . . we’re supposed to wish something for fluther?

ucme's avatar

@Blondesjon—Fan of the Bee Gees were we?

ucme's avatar

i dunno t.c

Paradox's avatar

A larger variety of people with different viewpoints. I’m not blaming Fluther for this however and I think it is a quality website with quality mods.

prolificus's avatar

I wish for the ability to flag answers from my iPhone.

RealEyesRealizeRealLies's avatar

I just attempted to flag your answer from my Andriod. No luck, and nothing personal. You just got me wondering if it was possible.

And I haven’t even been able to post questions from Android since I updated the software. Somebody recommended a third party browser to fix the problem, but I haven’t tried.

JLeslie's avatar

I also wish that when I clicked home, it showed all questions instead of just general.

Olympus Mons, Mars, October 23, 2019 – Fluther Inc. (NASDAQ: FLTH) announced today that it has agreed to acquire Facebook – the global social drama website that allows users to add friends and send them irrelevant applications – for $3.75 billion in a stock-for-stock transaction. Following the acquisition, Facebook will operate independently to preserve its successful brand and unpassionate community.

The acquisition combines two of the largest and fastest lurving networking sites and makes Fluther the largest online community which also helps Facebook with Fluther’s expertise in lurve and organizing questions, creating new models for enlightenment on the Internet. The combined companies will focus on providing a better, more incomprehensive experience for intelligent users interested in creative nonanswers and it will offer new opportunities for professional lurvers to distribute their questions to reach a vast new audience.

That the moderation process continues to develop, as it seems to get better with age.

laureth's avatar

Compared to @mattbrowne,the wish for Fluther shirts that fit seems almost inconsequential.

MissA's avatar

The combined companies will focus on providing a better, more incomprehensive experience…

@mattbrowne, is this what you really mean?

Hmmmm.

mattbrowne's avatar

@MissA – It’s just food for thought. Personally I prefer Fluther over Facebook.
