Similar books to Little Brother?

Asked by sanchezjk (153points) November 2nd, 2010

Does anyone have any suggestions for books similar to Little Brother by Cory Doctorow? I tend to be pretty picky about the books I read, but I fell in love with this particular book and I would like something similar if possible.

Can you describe it? I don’t know it, but i’m good with book suggestions if you give me a clue.

The novel is about several teenagers in San Francisco who, in the aftermath of a terrorist attack on the San Francisco – Oakland Bay Bridge and BART system, defend themselves against what they see as the Department of Homeland Security’s attacks on the Bill of Rights. The novel is also available free on the author’s website under a Creative Commons license. [from wikipedia]
It’s basically just a tech-savvy teen who tries to fix the “system” after a terrorist attack because he is targetted by DHS wrongly.

I’m not sure if this is quite what you’re looking for but you might try The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nightime by Mark Haddon. It’s about an autistic boy who has to find his mother in London. Very clever and readable. You might also like Never Let Me Go by Ishiguro about teenagers who are grown at a school for a specific purpose. It’s very dark.

Doesn’t Little Brother take place sometime in the future? These may be good for you:

Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom
No Place to Hide
For the Win
Ship Breaker
1984
