How do you multiply "diamond" by three?

Asked by hannahsugs (3243points) March 30th, 2007
I'm working on an internet puzzle game called the Tim Tang Test. (Find it here: http://timtang.com/ttt/ ). I'm totally stumped on a level. All I know so far is that I'm supposed to multiply "diamond" or something about diamonds by 3. I've tried substituting a=1, b=2, etc, with no luck, although there could be some trick i'm not getting. Ascii coding is a possibility, but I havent figured out how to do it and get a meaningful result. Any ideas? ................ ps: Hi Sarah!

Can you provide a link to the actual level?

I could, but it wouldn't do you much good. The things I know about the level come mostly from other forums talking about it, including advice from the creator of the puzzle himself. Also, experience with the earlier levels is important here (this level is level 30). Besides, then i'm helping everyone who reads this to jump to level 30 instead of doing the work themselves!

also, all that's on the level is a picture of a diamond, the title "Do some math..." and the indication that we're supposed to multiply by 3. The only other thing I know is that once diamond is multiplied by 3 it's supposed to lead to some sort of "3-diamond car"

Hi Hannah...maybe it's 3 diamonds tesselated into the shape of a car? Like 2 diamonds lying on their sides with points touching, and a 3rd diamond filling up the space above and between them?

OH WAIT!! The logo for M******** is 3 red diamonds, with points touching! Maybe the answer is "m**********"? I don't know how math comes into it if that's the answer, however.

I just tried m**********. It's not the answer. But it does have to do with cars and 3 diamonds...

What's a 3-dimensional diamond called?

Some sort of prism.

Is there music in the background? I've found that Tim's html doesn't really work on firefox/mac, but if you view source (command u), you can see the link in the title, then copy-paste that after /ttt to hear the music.

M*********** - three diamonds in Japanese.

Maybe try models? Colt, Lancer, Gallant, Pajero... Can't think of other names now.

YES! we got it! M******* was it, Sarah! There's just more in the URL by level 30, so it's not just [omitted]. You guys were fabulous, I can't believe i was stuck on this level for 3 days. Good luck on any of you that are hooked now...at least you'll know the answer for 30 when you get to it!

28 was a hard one. There's a couple of forums with help, here's one of them: http://www.nordinho.net/vbull/online-riddles/30678-tim-tang-test.html there's also a facebook group that has lots of hints, if you're a facebook member (or you can become one). Or send me a message if you want a hint.

My addiction to this game has significantly lessened my effectiveness. Thanks! Now the terrorists will surely win...
