What does it mean when someone suddenly starts being nice to you?

Asked by remambermee (442points) November 3rd, 2010

I got into a fight with someone and we didn’t talk after a long time (about two months). Last week this someone started being nice to me suddenly and started talking to me first after saying there’d be nothing to do with me anymore, how should I react? Or what should I think?
Would it be bad if I asked them why the sudden niceness? Or should I just not think too much about it?

They might feel badly about whatever they said to you in the past. Depending on how bad whatever they said or did was, you can choose to ignore them, or yes, you can ask why they’re suddenly talking to you. They may want to apologize, you never know.

What is confusing about somebody being nice?

She wants something from you.

I’ll second @Blondesjon. I’m cynical that way.
But you never know, she could be being nice out of niceness sake.

It means they want to borrow some money.

do they do hard drugs that you know of ? Not counting pot but sometimes the hard drugs will make people flip like that. Seen it many times is why I asked. I also have to agree with @Blondesjon, that does sound like this person may be wanting to take advantage of you. It’s hard not to think that.

Anything can be anticipated out of such occurences but be careful for a heart of a man is darkness.
