Yes, I’m from the deep South @Aesthetic_Mess, and it’s too hot down here to be any other way!

Each time I have been in the Caribbean, the locals would chastise me to “slow down Mon” we do things here on Island time….“sllllloooowwwwwly” I’m not sure I could ever quite adjust to that. I would have to be sedated for sure.

BoBo1946's avatar

lmao…yep, mon! I love it down down there @Cruiser ! Been to almost all the islands down there on 4 cruises and wish i was leaving today again.

I really want to visit the Caribbean, I do love the laidback lifestyle…

Outside the big cities in SE Asia it is really chill. I’ve heard Laos is the greatest, I must visit next time. Totally separated from the hectic desperation of international commercialism.

Nothing against the South or the Caribbean, but we have places in NY that really fit the same description.

I’ve never been to the south, or the Caribbean, but I would considered some parts of rural America laid back. I giggle when I go into the nearest large town and people get so irritated with me when I actually drive the speed limit. Where are these people rushing to with their cell phones attached to their ears? They need to take a breather!

BoBo1946's avatar

@jonsblond isn’t that not the “dang truth!” Hey, give me the middle lane and let them go!

meiosis's avatar

The Caribbean isn’t very laid back if you’re gay. Quite the opposite in fact.

SundayKittens's avatar

@BoBo1946‘s first comment is the truth!!!!

BoBo1946's avatar

@SundayKittens Northerners have always stereotyped Southerners as lazy, they need to come down here and fight the humidity and temperatures…they might learned a few things…loll

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@BoBo1946 Come on up some time. I can show you one of the coolest (temp wise) but most laid back places you’ll ever see.

marinelife's avatar

Yes, I do like it.

SundayKittens's avatar

@BoBo1946 AMEN. They’re just jealous of our vittles, anyway.

Yes, but like Cruiser said, it’s too much after awhile. Things have to get done. That’s why they’re vacations and not a way of life lol (for some I mean). I like drinking on the beach at 3pm knowing I have nothing else to do except ride a jet ski and drink more later lol.

@Adirondackwannabe many years ago, worked a hurricane in Houston, Tx. One of my running buddies was from upstate NY. Great guy…. we had too much fun!

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@BoBo1946 We do know how to have a good time. The heat mellows you in the South, the cool inspires us up here. Best wishes Monday!

BoBo1946's avatar

Thank you @Adirondackwannabe ! I’m looking forward to getting this behind me! Be nice to walk with my friend Joe again. A great neighbor that I’ve walked with daily until this hip ran out of oil…now, I tell Joe…“I’ve a flat tire today, but getting it replaced next Monday!”

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

I don’t know, I’ve never lived it.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir You need to get out of Brooklyn once in a while.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe I’ve been out of Brooklyn – I have lived in cities, in villages and on other continents. It’s not the environment, it’s me – life is too short to be laid back about it.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir I started to edit that the minute I hit the answer button. I know that’s not your style.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe I think people have a very mistaken impression that the ‘laid-back’ lifestyle is somehow preferrable. Not at all.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

Yes.I do like to be around laid back,easy-going people by far.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

I think it’s what fits life’s requirements at the time.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir Understand what you mean. The wordsmith in me isn’t coming up with the words to say how or why.

ucme's avatar

Yes of course I do, chill man. Only, don’t lay back too far when cycling. Probably crash into something that way.

wundayatta's avatar

I can enjoy it on vacation. I’m not sure how long I could live that way before I went crazy. I know it would probably be only a few months. After that, it’s back to the city for me.

downtide's avatar

I’ve never been to the Caribbean but I’ve spent some time in Andalucia (southern Spain) where the way of life is very laid back, and I loved it. Andalucians have a reputation in the rest of Spain for laziness.

daytonamisticrip's avatar

No way! God gave you adrenal glands for a reason, use them.

NaturallyMe's avatar

I don’t think i’ve ever lived in a real laid back area, but i imagine it would be more preferable to rushed city life. My personality is laid back and relaxed, so i think i’ll prefer a lifestyle that leans more towards being laid back as well.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

I could do it for a short spell then need to get away. I like being able to do a lot in my awake hours, I feel my time is very finite and mortal. Sometimes I go a little crazy to not be able to be doing things as I used to, like I not ever get that again.

YARNLADY's avatar

Yes, I perfected it in Southern California, and have now transported it to my current location.

Paradox's avatar

I live in a colder climate but I’m as laid back as you can get. I hate commotion, noise and crowds. It doesn’t take much to make me happy.
