How do I fix iTunes error 1603?

I’m trying to restore my 4th gen iPod touch with os 4.1, but I keep getting this error! I’ve tried different usb port, and I reintalled itunes yesterday. HELP!

Other ideas from Apple include resetting the iPhone sync history and restoring and creating a new user account and restoring.
Another suggestion that seems to help is pulling the SIM out and then connectiong to itunes.

Ipods dont have SIM cards.

No fucking way am I making a new account and losing my shit.

I cant set up a new account because I dont have a credit card.

Yeah, I just restarted and am tying to restore now. If it doesn’t rport I guess I need to go exchane it or something.
