How do I follow stuff on Facebook?

Asked by Tintels (123points) November 4th, 2010

I am trying to find out how Facebook works. It is unclear to me. 500 million people seem to understand it, but I don’t.

The most presssing question is: What appears in my News Feed? Posts from friends appear, but when I like pages or join groups, I can’t find a way to get news from those walls to my own homepage / newsfeed.

That could be consistent, but when I liked ” Costa Rica” which is apparently a “local business”, posts DO appear in my News feed.. Why? Who can explain?

By default, everything appears in your News Feed. If there is a particular thing you don’t want in your feed, hover your mouse over that post and an X will appear. If you click the X, you can then choose to remove that post only or remove all posts by that particular person or business.

I’m not really sure either, and I’m an active Facebook user… but it seems the more active I am in interacting with that friend or organization, the more likely Facebook is to include it in my home page / newsfeed.
