I would like to know what you really think about this skit put together?

I had someone send this to me and it touched me and I find that maybe this might help our Nation. Does this touch you at all? Do you think it might help? Do you think a mass of people trying to accomplish the same thing will direct the Universe to help?

If you copy it and post it in the browser it will work. I got the same thing.

This works. I think this is part of the problem, not part of the solution. Not all of the citizenry of the US is Christian (or even Judeo-Christian), despite what the far right would have us believe. The notion that a message like this would offer healing to the masses is potentially inflammatory in and of itself.

@Kayak8 Yes it does thank you.

Well, I watched it, and despite the fact that I’m probably more conservative/libertarian than 99% of fluther, I’m also not religious, so the whole blue-eyed Jesus swooping in on a white cloud to save the day thing sortof turns me off. That’s just me, though.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard

I understand it just touched me, but I think a National Effort would help things.

I suppose it is harmless, but it is very vague. I watched and listened to it all the way through and have no idea what it is on about.

@JustmeAman, thanks for being understanding.

A national effort to share the blue-eyed Jesus with a decidedly Christian message will touch those who are already attracted to that image and will anger others if “become a Christian” is the point of the message.

Unfortunately, in my short time on the planet (half a century), it seems that national disasters with very high cost in life are the only things that draw us together and help us move beyond our differences. It is a sad statement, but 9–11 saw more “pulling together” and “standing shoulder to shoulder” on behalf of our country than many more mundane acts of kindness or heroism that happen every day.

I think, on a number of levels, we have become numb (onslaught of information perhaps) and it takes something loud and huge to rattle our cages and make us look outside ourselves. And even then it takes only a short time for us to return to the childish bickering and hate mongering that seems to be our national legacy.

We, as a country, seem unable to “live and let live.” We don’t want to share our personal message; instead we want to force our personal message on others, often with horrible results and long-term harm to people who think differently than we do.

I would be the first one on the time machine back to the 1950’s, but that is nostalgia and I know that the 1960s will come along all too soon. As a lesbian, I know the 1950’s would have been a horrible time for me to have been alive, but I can still be nostalgic for the images I have seen on TV and in movies. It seems there are citizens of our country that strongly desire a return to the 1950’s (or even 1850’s in some cases) without regard for how many people were hurt during those “not so idyllic” times.

You don’t want to know what I really think…........I’m going to be nice and simply say: Pitiful.

JustmeAman's avatar

@Blackberry

Yes I absolutely do want to know what you think. Please I will not take offense.

Where do I begin…..I have work to do lol.
Praying does not work.
Which god are we praying to, if there is one? And if you know, how do you know?
Ronald Reagan is just a human with an opinion; that quote of his doesn’t make god any more real.
God and prayer do not dictate the state of a nation, the actions of the humans on the planet do.
What are the things we are turning away from that made this country great? Oppression? Discrimination? It certainly wasn’t christianity. Have you read the Treaty of Tripoli lately?

Should I go on?

JustmeAman's avatar

@Blackberry

I appreciate your views and if you would like to yes you can go on. Again I am learning from this. Thanks

@JustmeAman You’re right, a national effort would help, but it would have to be something that is substantial. Like Kayak said, not much can do that on this planet, but sittting on your couch praying isn’t going to help people. That’s my opinion.

Prayer is just those that are Christian or religious way of invoking the Universal Law of Attraction. I am a firm believer in combining ones thoughts, actions, prayer, meditation, feelings and emotions for a cause. I do believe that this does help and can make a big difference.

Blackberry's avatar

@JustmeAman Yes, it does. The video was vague and seemed to cater to christianity, but if humans work together it can make a difference, regardless of religion.

@Blackberry

Yes the clip was totally Christian oriented but I like to think we all can come together and help. The clip just inspired me to think about it and I wanted to share it with fluther.
