Every time I plug in my iPod, it has to be restored to factory settings?

Asked by Aesthetic_Mess (7894points) November 6th, 2010

When I plug my iPod in, it says that it does not recognize that iPod, although it has all my music on it. I’ve been doing it for a while, and it’s now recently been happening. Why is it restoring my iPod to factory settings, and then erasing all my music from it, then syncing it back to my iPod. I don’t understand why it’s doing that.
What can I do to fix it?

It sounds like a problem with iTunes. I would try reinstalling it first.

My ipod used to give me trouble because the iTunes default was set to sync ipods automatically. Try looking at your Preferences for “devices” is, and changing those settings.
