Can I plug an old I-Pod into my computer without it erasing the songs on it?

Asked by JeffHP (92points) November 9th, 2010

I was given an old I-Pod (1st generation) awhile ago with thousands of songs on it. I want to charge it, but I’m afraid if I plug it into my computer, it will erase the songs or screw up my I-tunes. Will that happen and can I get the songs off the I-pod and into my I-tunes?

You should use the iPod as a transfer medium to move the music from files on the iPod to the music file on your computer, then add them to iTunes from there. Directions
