My computer is doing a memory dump?

Asked by Marchofthefox (787points) November 11th, 2010

I was using my dell PC when a norton security scan was trying to run on my computer. I turned the computer off and now when I turn it on the computer goes to the homescreen; then goes to a black screen where it states that the computer is doing a memory dump.

How do I fix it?

First thing to try when your PC is booting is to free F8 which will load a menu. Select “Last Known good Configuration”

If that doesn’t help press f8 again and select safe mode. Boot and use the windows system restore (where this option is depends on your Operating system).

If that doesn’t work… pull out your operating system disk and reload.

Wipe its HDD afterwards.
