How does an Induction "Transmitter" work and how would I go about making one?

Is it the same principles as a receiver? How would I go about making an induction transmitter? I have used one along with an induction receiver. Would it work to reverse the circuit on http://www.techlib.com/electronics/induction.html by placing the coil where the earphone is and putting a microphone where the coil is?
