When do the concepts of Isochronic tones and Monaural beats originate from?

Asked by Foolaholic (5804points) November 16th, 2010

I’m trying to do research for a class of mine on the subject of auditory suggestion. I’ve come across plenty of information concerning Binaural beats and their conception, but the other two terms that I mentioned seem to have no history of discovery. Is there any information out their concerning their discovery?

The earliest reference I can find is in 1916 in a paper published in Psychological Review and written by Joseph Peterson at the University of Minnesota. However the actual paper is not available online anywhere.
