Are these foosball tricks real or special effects?

Asked by RealEyesRealizeRealLies (30951points) November 17th, 2010

After the first video, you can examine each trick individually in slow motion by clicking the links at the end. Play the main video to see the entire commercial.

Some amazing stuff, but I don’t know if I believe it’s real.

What do you think? Almost seems to defy the abilities for human coordination and physics.

LOL! I’ve only watched a couple, but yes, they’re real! I gotta go watch some more. Lord I miss that sound!

Quite clearly real. It’s harder to fake video than you might think.

OK, narrative here. What they’re calling a “helicopter” is a toe shot.
The second one, where he or she kicked it in backward was nice! I’ve never seen it before but I could imagine perfecting if I had!
3 The lob—Damn! Those guys are getting serious!! That’s too cool! Except….I’d say yes, it was set up as a trick. For one thing the defending goalie was no where near the “net.” Plus, it was relatively slow, compared to a toe shot or a pull shot. It would be soooooo easy to stop.
4. The swing. Do over. It wasn’t clean. It went off the goalie. No point. I’ve never seen that one either.
Well, I’m done. They’re real, but they’re trick shots, just like you can set up trick shots on a pool table that has no other balls on it.

@RealEyesRealizeRealLies Yeah! That would be one of those I’d watch the table for a couple of seconds, say “Hail no!” get me a beer and find a seat to watch the action! I’ve gotta send this to my ex!

These look like they might be a whole lot harder on many US foosball tables. Most tables I’ve played on have rounded corners, making it much harder to get the ball to bounce off the back wall into the air… especially to have the ball bounce into a position where the forward team could play it. Also, these tables don’t appear to have the side drop holes. So I’m calling the air shots almost impossible in an actual game on a US table.

I’m sure they’re real. I was playing Foosball like that (not with quite that level of skill… but I was in a pretty demanding college, and we had a much cheaper table) in the early 1970s.

I’ll take them on at table tennis any day, too.

@GladysMensch….it was all staged, in this case. I played foosball too, in the 70’s. We didn’t make those kinds of shots!
