When you are called into your branch Social Security office for review of an open case and asked to bring in papers is it ok to reschedule?

Asked by silky1 (1510points) November 18th, 2010

They gave me an open appointment between 1–3pm on a certain day I missed it.

Should be okay, hope you had a good reason for missing the appointment. It is better if you ask for a reschedule before the meeting.

I hope you at least called the SS office to advise them you would miss your appointment.

Call again and advise why you missed the appointment(tell the truth) and ask for another.

Chances are, they will agree for another date for you.

If you haven’t called already, you need to call them as soon as possible. Some times they will close your case if you don’t show up without giving them notice.
