Smoothie recipes?

Asked by Zag_grad2010 (203points) November 18th, 2010

I want to make a smoothie like the ones at Jamba Juice or Robeks. I want to put in fruit, whey protein, and not sure what else to make it a smoothie. I think yogurt or some ingredient like that to make it have the “smoothie texture”.

My usual breakfast is
1 banana
a few spoonfuls of yogurt,
frozen blueberries
orange juice.

Spinach is good if you mix it with banana and blueberrys.

1c skim milk
1 scoop Slim fast vanilla powder (vitamin boost!)
~1c frozen fruits, which ever ones you like…more or less to the consistency you like!

My basic “recipe” is yogurt, fruit juice and frozen fruit. I just wing it. I use whatever flavors I think may work well together. Or whatever I have on-hand. You would be surprised how good strawberry & cantaloupe are together. You can put whatever you want in there, then add more yogurt/juice/fruit as-needed to get the texture you want.

here’s mine: one or two bananas, a handful of frozen berries, one scoop ‘alive’ stuff from the healthfood store, half a cup of water. blend

Depending on what else is in it, you can replace regular/dairy yogurt with coconut yogurt for a really good smoothie.

You can also use silken tofu instead of protein powder. I like mangoes and strawberries with a banana.

And this is something that tastes great, but is not exactly a smoothie. Equal parts non-alcoholic beer (like O’Douls) and orange juice, or pineapple juice. It’s super refreshing on a hot day.
