You're alone in your home listening to some music, do you wear headphones or blast that sound out?

Asked by ucme (50047points) November 24th, 2010

The louder the better right? I know with two kids & a wife I rarely get the oppurtunity to be “home alone.” On the joyous but rare occasions that I am afforded this pleasure however…..whoo hoo! Crank it up & rock it out! This one go’s to eleven :¬) How about you?

Blast it. “If it’s not loud, it’s not music” – Some person. Music just sounds better if it is loud. Just like movies are better on a huge screen with loud sound.

I definitely don’t use headphones, but I live in a “Student Family Residence” (an apartment building for UofT students who are married/common-law/parents) so I try to keep it down. I’d be pretty upset if my neighbours didn’t show the same consideration.

In my car, on the other hand, I turn it up to eleven. Or twelve.

I have massive Voice of the Theater speakers that kick out that jams as loud as you can stand it and then some. My neighbors have remarked how good they sound in their basement!

No headphones here.

@Seelix Out of what? 15 lol?

@Blackberry – Out of 10. My power of rock is so strong that I can do the impossible.

This is blasting right now :))

Blast it out… I try to be considerate of the neighbours though…although probably too much!

@Seelix Sweet. I was just wondering because I have not seen volume numbers stop so short. I’ve seen most go to 30 or 40. I don’t know why they pick these numbers, though.

Home alone? Blast the music. I’m confined to headphones otherwise.

@Blackberry Unless I’m mistaken, @Seelix is making a This is Spinal Tap reference :)

As I said in the details, mine go’s to eleven Spinal Tap style. Me & the neighbours have this understanding when it comes to noise. Oh yeah, they understand that I don’t care if they can hear it XD Only kiddin…...or am I? :¬)

I live alone in my house, so I play it loud… at obnoxious hours too =/

Only have had the cops called on me 3 times in the past 2 years.

Blackberry's avatar

@muppetish Oh, I’m too young to get it, then lol.

No headphones for me. My stereo is in the living room. I usually have it on when I’m cleaning, so it’s loud enough that I can still hear it when I’m in the other rooms in our house.

I am gettin’ old, rarely ‘blast’ music anymore, but, I do like driving to good music, I have an excellent stereo system in my car.

I hardly put music on at home unless I am having a few cocktails then I go to the archives and sing and dance around by myself. lol

Headphones of course. No need to harass the neighbours with the noise.

Blast it out everytime. I even got a new conservatory so I can do it whenever I want to!

iphigeneia's avatar

I blast it out, and I sing along. I hope the neighbours like Kate Bush :D

@iphigeneia If the neighbours don’t like her, “they’ll be running up that road, they’ll be running up that hill” :¬)

Headphones for blasting – the walls are pretty thin, and I want my neighbors to be quiet as well.

Brian1946's avatar

No headphones unless my wife needs quiet.

When she’s not here, I blast away.

I only have a nearby neighbor on one side of my house, and my sound “system” is on the opposite side.
When I do blast tunes, I ensure that my windows (they’re double-paned) on that side are all closed.

I don’t think I have ever used headphones if I am in the house on my own (which, seeing as I live alone, is most of the time). I play it loud enough so I can hear it throughout my flat but I am courteous of my neighbours.

If others are home, headphones. If not, then I use the speakers. The neighboors aren’t too close, so complaints of noise aren’t an issue.
