What should I give the office staff at work (that I am also friendly with) as a holiday gift, spending under $20 each?

Asked by jca (36062points) November 24th, 2010

What’s a good gift (or variety of gifts) for the office clerks at work, who are helpful to me? it could be a variety of smaller gifts in a gift bag or basket, or it could be one thing. I shop at Costco and Sam’s so I do get things cheaper in quantities, also. I am clever and crafty so can attractively package whatever I purchase. I am friends with these girls but they are also my subordinates and are helpful to me, so I would like to show them some appreciation in the form of a holiday gift. They are in their 20’s.

Most 20 somethings would like a gift certificate to Victoria’s Secret or Bath and Body Works.

You could go with a gift basket with a bottle of wine, some crackers, some candy, some cheese spread.

My supervisor once gave us all a little basket with a small ceramic teapot, a teaball, and a specialty imported tea (in different varieties that suited our tastes). It was thoughtful and nicer than a Starbucks gift card.

A pretty 2011 planner
A gift basket of cool office supplies (I am an office supply nerd)
Movie tickets
GC for a manicure or pedicure
Take them all out for lunch or have lunch catered in for them

I personally never give wine unless I know the person well. I never know if someone is struggling with addiction or has strong feelings against alcohol due to family history or religion. I would also stay away from VS in a work situation.

I agree no alcohol.

These little colorful flashlights from Brookstone for your purse or car are cute, and inexpensive. They are curently buy one get one free for $15; so $15 for two. and one other stocking stuffer type gift.

A scarf if you are in a cold climate. Or slippers.

I love candy but so many people are trying to lose weight.

GC card from Target or Starbucks, or itunes if you know they have ipods.

If they are all women you can get lotion and bath gel at Body Works or something similar. Or, moisturing lip bomb. A lot of people seem to like candles, and if they don’t like them it is easy to regift.

Macy’s has some gift sets for $20. Lots of Burt’s Bees sets if you look down the page, and on the next page.

Maybe a t-shirt from your city or state?

Your favorite specialty jams. Or, anything in the gourmet section in your supermarket. Specialty pasta and sauce, or specialty coffees and teas, popcorn and nuts.

My husband’s company has been giving out gift cards to Starbucks lately, and I love those.
