I am sick of the lies that magor cable companies are telling me. What is the best company and not too expensive.

Asked by marialisa (464points) November 25th, 2010

I got a great deal on cable from Dish Network. They said if I sign on for 2 years I would get 2 dvr’s, 4 cable hook-ups all for 29.99. My bill has slowly gone from $29.99 to over $65.00. I am sick of calling and complaining about it. I now know why people hack into and get illegal cable. The promises made by the top 3 companies are for sure are scams. What is the best thing to do when you only watch some t.v. and want out of this cable crap….?

Whatever TV I watch is available on Hulu. If I can wait, then there’s Netflix for the season DVDs.

I don’t think I’ll ever bother getting cable, satellite, U-verse, or anything until I can pick-and-choose the channels I want instead of paying $65 for 200 channels I don’t care about.

They all screw you over, pretty much equally.

It’s important to read the fine print. Most of these offers say upfront that it’s an introductory offer and that the rates will go up after 3 months. It’s hateful, and a good reason to not watch television. I agree with @mrentropy. With Hulu or Netflix, it’s possible to keep television from taking over your life.

They are all the same.

They’re all the same. Either accept that, and expect to always pay more than they initially promise, or give it all up. I haven’t paid for cable in years and years. We have a TV antenna that we watch local TV on, and otherwise we rent shows once they’re out on DVD from the movie store (or borrow them from the library) and we sometimes stream shows online (many stations offer recent episodes on their websites; otherwise, many shows are available in full seasons on random websites, probably illegally).

Quit watching tv altogether. You can pretty much buy what’s on tv on DVD, Pretty much most sitcoms you see are all on off network syndication. You can find your news source on the channel’s website. There’s Hulu Plus and I think you can even watch HBO online but not sure how that works.

You can also try Redbox, They’re located at grocery and drugstores.

All companies are the same. It’s bait and switch. It’s dishonest and disgusting.
