Do you think that the Law of One is legitimate?

Asked by KeithWilson (833points) November 26th, 2010

I’ve been reading The Law of One. It seems pretty neat although it’s kind of difficult to read at times because of all the technical wording, but do you think that these channelings are authentic?

I don’t think it makes a difference whether they are authentic or not. You must judge for yourself whether they are valuable to you, or not. To say that some idea comes from some authority no one else can perceive is a blatant attempt to sway your feelings about the writings, should you have any beliefs in distant intelligences or the possibility thereof.

Maybe they get quicker recognition for these writing by creating a mythology around them. Maybe some people believe them who otherwise would not had there been no mythology around them.

In the end, it really, really is irrelevant. The only important thing is whether the words have meaning to you. Clearly, you do, for you are spending a lot of time reading something that is difficult for you to read.

Ask yourself if you would read these writings if they had not come from some alien intelligence. If you would, then it doesn’t matter if that source is there or not.

If you would not be reading these writings unless you believed they came from some entity being channeled through these sensitive people, then I don’t think you are reading them for the right reason. You are giving up your critical thinking ability to blind belief. Not good.

The only important thing is whether these words speak to you. If they don’t, you are wasting your time reading them. If they do speak to you, then keep on reading. That is the only legitimacy you need.

@wundayatta Thank you for your comments. I am enjoying the book and yes, it is difficult, but worth it. I can honestly say that if the same information came from another source, then I would still read it. It is very interesting. The reason I asked about the legitimacy of the book is because I am only about a quarter of the way into reading it and I see very few mistakes or give-aways. The answers fit the questions well. I wanted to see if maybe someone on here has read the whole thing and found some questionable data.

Never heard of it before today. But a quick search found a couple of interesting discussions of it here and here.

Looks like it’s the same New Age mysticism as usual, from an author of known fantasies who may just know how to write a bit better than the average tale-spinner.

I worry about an America where rationalism is increasingly set aside for mysticism and superstition.

When the myths of days gone by are shattered, there will always be someone to pick up the pieces and rebuild a new mythology and if they are creative enough, will also find an audience hungry for a new prophet to guide their lives. This guy Ra/Don/Ra is creative for sure and I will keep my opinions to myself on this one.
