What's happened to the big Christmas candy canes?

If I did not know any better, i could swear the candy companies have put the Christmas candy canes on a diet. They all remind me of Slim Jims, not candy canes. I use to put a big candy cane in my childrens Christmas stockings each year. You now need a magnifying glass just to find one. I went on a search for a big, fat candy cane. I found one at Cracker Barrel Restaurants. It weighes two pounds and it’s the way candy canes use to be. Here is the sad part…....its cost. $10.99 !!
Question: would you have paid the above price for a two pound candy cane?

You answered your own question. There are still big ones – if you can afford them.

To tell the truth, my parents saved over several months to afford our Christmas candy canes even when I was a child. Christmas candy is special precisely because it is expensive.

Candy canes are so pretty, but I never liked the taste of them. They always burned my tongue. I remember the “real” ones being about 8 inches tall and you can find them in almost any size bigger or smaller than you want. I’m glad to know that they make them in fruity flavors now. You can get the yummy fruity flavored ones at the 99 Cent store. Yum!
