Has anyone else become skeptical of the Fluther score system as a metric for quality?

I’ve noticed a lot of “great answer” stars for answers that are funny, but do not actually offer any knowledge to the question’s asker. In other situations, I’ve seen helpful and informative answers not scored at all (well, until I see them. Then I star them!) Is this my paranoid brain? Or is the score system slowly sliding towards a measure of wit or popularity instead of a measure of helpfulness?
