How many members of the cast of Glee do their own singing?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) December 11th, 2010

On the series Glee how many of them actually do their own singing? About the only three that don’t appear to be lip syncing are Rachelle, Kirt, and Mercedes. And when Gwyneth Paltrow sang in the Substitute (being a product of Hollywood nepotism) did she do her own singing? And do you believe Glee the series is making glee clubs in schools and out more hip and cool?

Obviously it’s not live.
I assume they do voiceovers after the record the show.
It’s still them singing.. just not at the same time as taping.
But that’s only an assumption here.

all of those guys can really sing, even Jany Lynch. Gwynnie also can and did sing her role.

As a former music teacher….Yippee!! I loved show choirs and jazz hands :):) and marching band

All of them.

“Glee is choreographed by Zach Woodlee and features five to eight production numbers per episode.[17] Once Murphy selects a song, rights are cleared with its publishers by music supervisor P. J. Bloom, and music producer Adam Anders rearranges it for the Glee cast.[10] Numbers are pre-recorded by the cast, while Woodlee constructs the accompanying dance moves, which are then taught to the cast and filmed.[3] Studio recordings of tracks are then made. The process begins six to eight weeks before each episode is filmed, and can end as late as the day before filming begins.[10] Each episode costs at least $3 million to produce,[3] and can take up to 10 days to film as a result of the elaborate choreography.[9]”

Gwyneth Paltrow also did her own singing as she does in her soon-to-be-released released movie, Country Strong.

I LOVE this show! Of course all of the cast members sing, and all of them lip-synch to tracks, they have to to film the TV show. It isn’t a live show. @marinelife Thanks for all of the behind the scenes info. : )

I sure hope that the show is making real glee clubs and show choirs and theater groups more popular. I was out walking my friend’s dog the other day and we came to a cul de sac and there in the middle of the street were about 12 kids, around junior high school age doing some kind of dance routine. Maybe show choir, maybe dance crew, not sure, but I got all giddy when I saw them.
