Since today is my birthday, what should I expect for the next few years of my life?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) December 16th, 2010

I told my wife that my birthday cake would not hold all the candles. and, I was correct. So, there will only be 30 candles on my b-cake. I have made it okay, so far in my life, but what should I expect for the next few years? Question: what should a person, on their birthday be thankful for?

Happy Birthday John! Not to sound too over the top here, but having faced the very real possibilty in the past of not having any more Birthdays, be thankful that you can look forward to cake. Cake is life-affirming. I am grateful for every birthday cake.

and other stuff, too, of course!

Very Happy Birthday Wishes, John! I think taking the time to take stock, thinking about your life so far and what you have accomplished, what you are proud of, what you might have done differently is always important. Then I would reflect on the opportunities missed and see if any of them can fit into your life in the next year (even pick just one).

Happy Birthday John. Is this where you look at the bucket thing and make sure you can check them off? Take time to smell the roses and enjoy the sunsets?

JilltheTooth's avatar

What @Kayak8 said. It’s probably better than my “cake” advice.

Adirondackwannabe. i still have the bucket. i still carry it everyday. the question is, is it half empty or half full? i believe its half full. i am a very optimistic person. thanks for all the answers, everyone.

Hau’oli la hanau e @john65pennington . That’s “Happy Birthday.”

Expect the things you most desire and perhaps they will come to you. Expect the worst, and you won’t be disappointed.

1) Happy Birthday!
2) You can expect more of the same, plus a few surprises.

I’ll need 62 candles on my next one, if I want to do it up right, but that’s disallowed by our local fire codes. Any birthday I get to is a recognition of being tough enough to still be here. That’s always cause for celebration.

I just looked in my crystal ball and it said you will be happy every single day for the rest of your life. It’s up to you to make that come true. I’ll be 68 next month and I’m having 68 candles, even if they won’t all fit on the cake.

Seelix's avatar

@YARNLADY – If they won’t all fit on one cake, you’ll just have to have two ;)

@john65pennington—Of course you can get your candles on the cake! Buy the number candles and look at all the room you have left to make more memories. Enjoy what you have, your life and family. Look on the past, fondly and look forward with excitement.
