Do you ever feel like you're trapped in the society you live in?

As a United States citizen, I have to admit that there is a certain disdain associated with trying to rationalize the way we live in our society.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but under the current model to success it is necessary to educate yourself so that you can get the job to make the money to buy the things to impress the people that make you happy. Certainly there is much more to it than that, but that is just the gist of it.

To what end though? What is the goal of society other than self sustainability? Does anyone else feel that their lives are apart of a meaningless chain of consumption?
