Does anyone else find themselves a little creeped out by space?

Asked by JMCSD (243points) April 7th, 2008 from iPhone

I mean, when you really think about it. Just all the factors, such as infinity. Any interesting facts or statements to reflect?

One that really got me when I was younger was, trying to figure the shape of space! Everything that we know of has some sort of shape, but what about space?

didnt scientists just find a bunch of planets? and by bunch i mean a quantity, not a cluster.

JMCSD's avatar

@bulb, yeah, if you really think about direction and such, with no form of scale or sides lol.
@allie, really? Got numbers????

Think about it we could be interspace. On something bigger…....

I find myself more creeped out by the increase in autism in babies, toxic air and water, endangered species, the number of my friends dying of brain, liver, lung, endometrial, prostate, breast cancer, the amount of dyes, additives and cornsyrup in most supermarket foods, mercury in fish and us, hormones in cattle, poultry, the disappearance of bats and honey bees…shall I continue?

still curious on thebigtechdudes theory: interspace…

There is inner space, private space, public space, and outer space (aka cosmology) but no interspace, as far as I know and recently I feel as tho I know less and less.

Re: thebigtechdudes theory; advanced calculus,Astronomy 101, astrophysics,...> joint PhD in Philosophy and Astrophysics or Particle Physics or Cosmology….> huge numbers of unanswered questions.

I remember when I was contemplating the infinity of space for the first time as a kid and telling my dad that it just didn’t make sense. And then he said: “wouldn’t it be weirder if there was an ending line to the universe that you couldn’t cross?” I can still remember that thought blowing my mind.

wow, that is a good point

@gorillapaws i absolutely love that process of thought!
i guess we cant win either way.. there is no ‘logical’ solution.
