What's the best GPS software for linux?

Asked by linuxgnuru (207points) December 22nd, 2010

I’m looking for a good GPS program for Linux / GNU. What I plan is using my phone’s GPS with my laptop (I have this part done) I plan on creating routes in areas (East Africa) where internet is not available, and later put these routes onto a digital map; such as google maps. In essence, I need something that can 1) Keep track of routes based on lat/long (that doesn’t require internet access) 2) using google maps or other free online mapping service, transpose what I have previously recorded onto a digital map
