Which comedian do you like best?

Asked by BoBo1946 (15325points) December 23rd, 2010

I really enjoy a good comedian. My favorite of all-times was Red Fox (deceased now). His mannerisms just broke me up. He was a natural.

Today, I’m across a singing comedian named, Tim Hawkins! This is one of the funniest skits I’ve ever seen. Enjoy. PLEASE watch this.

I have a few favourites, here goes: Sarah Millican, Peter Kay, Dara O’Briain, French and Saunders (together and seperate), Victoria Wood, Shappi Khorsandi, I’m sure there are more that I have forgotten.

Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, Russell Peters, Sarah Silverman, Jim Gaffigan and Conan O’Brien (who’s more of a talkshow host, but what the hell).

Here’s a second for Russell Peters

So, no one found Tim Hawkins as being funny. Oh well, I must just have a wierd sense of humor. Thought he was hilarious.

Bill Bailey, Ross Noble, Dylan Moran to name a few.

Richard Pryor. Damn he was funny on stage. And he starred in great family oriented movies.

Lee Evans – Roy “Chubby” Brown – Frankie Boyle (not exactly the most loved man in the UK at the moment.) Peter Kay – Leigh Francis….. he does characters such as Bo Selecta & Keith Lemon. All well known British funsters, I love em all :¬)

@BoBo1946 I love Tim Hawkins. He really is hilarious without being vulgar. On the vulgar side, I used to enjoy Kathy Griffin. Her humor has gotten old with me now. Another comedian like Tim Hawkins who is really a riot is a woman by the name of Jeanne Robertson. I also can’t get enough of Jeff Dunham.

@bkcunningham thank you for the links. Glad someone here liked Tim. He is one cool guy, and you right, he does it clean.

I liked that Tim Hawkins video. I am also a big Jim Gaffigan fan.

Great…. I really thought he was funny @marinelife !

Hey @bkcunningham she is hilarious. I really enjoyed those two videos. Still laughing.

My all-time favorite is Ron White.

bkcunningham's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate ole’ tater salad is hilarious. My husband just came in and I asked him. He said Red Skelton was his all time favorite, but he has many.

I really like Bill Engvall. He is hilarious without being hurtful or vulgar. His humor is all about real life situations and that’s why it’s so funny. He’s able to put a funny spin on things that happen to all of us. “Here’s your sign!”

I like Ron White too, but I only like SOME of his stuff. He can get pretty foul mouthed. But I love his “Tater Salad” routine and when he says, ” I wasn’t drunk in public. I was drunk inside a bar. They threw me into public.”

And I also appreciate a few actors from TV shows that have made me laugh so hard that I cried—John Cryer (2 and Half Men), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Megan Mullally (Will and Grace) and David Hyde Pierce (Frasier) and Neal Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother).

LOL, I just found this hilarious “campaign” video from Ron White about how to pay for the war. Careful, bad language.

I LOVE Mitch Hedberg. I think he is so hilarious in such a simple, every-day-observation type of way.

I LOVE Eddie Izzard; anyone that cracks on history history is classic. Cake or Death

bkcunningham's avatar

@BoBo1946 can we join in saying Merry Christmas and thank you to Phil Spector?

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@BarnacleBill I love Eddie Izzard and “cake or death”!! Just rented one of his comedy specials from Netflix a few weeks ago.

Tim Hawkins was pretty funny alright, but what’s he do for a second act? I love Joon Stewart and Steven COlbert now because not only are they both terrifically funny, they are thinkers who weave reality and current interest into their comedy and fight for social justice with it.

@BoBo1946 Mr. Spector discovered a very young Darlene.

Eddie Izzard or Jimmy Carr. But I also love Robin Williams, John Cleese, Hugh Laurie, and Stephen Fry.

Benny Hill (not sure if he was considered a true comedian) but when I was little and I would watch his show he could make me laugh so hard it hurt. I’ve always liked Jay Leno as well.

Kardamom's avatar

@Paradox OMG! Haven’t thought of Benny Hill in ages. He was pretty funny. I always loved it when he would tap that little old guy Jackie on the back of the head.

I have to go with George Carlin on this one. Smart, insightful, and withstood the test of time. How many comics had/have a career that lasts more than a decade? Two? Three? Five? Many fade away, but George stuck around and kept himself relevant.

Paradox's avatar

@Kardamom When I get more money saved I was thinking of buying some dvds of his old material (Benny Hill). I’ve always had a fascination with anything British or Japenese for some reason.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

George Carlin, for his insight into human nature. Benny Hill, for his shy naughtyness, Buddy Hacket. And generally the rest above.

Kardamom's avatar

I was just thinking about Laurel and Hardy. Even after all of these years, they’re movies are still really funny. Just the looks they got on their faces were funny without them saying a word.

stardust's avatar

I love Deirdre O’Kane, Tommy Tiernan, Des Bishop, Russell Brand, Jason Byrne, Neil Delamare, French & Saunders

OpryLeigh's avatar

Can I add Miranda Hart to my list.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Eddy Murphy. LARRY THE CABLE GUY!!! Richard Prior. JEFF FOXWORTHY! I’m getting eclectic here. I can feel it.
