Best skateboard bearings?

Asked by Jeremycw1 (1370points) December 25th, 2010

I need some new bearings for my longboard… something fast and smooth…. and I’m willing to pay for quality. Any suggestions? What brand is best in your opinion?

“Bones Swiss Skateboard Bearings have the best reputation in the skateboard industry, and have had this honor for the past 26 years because of their performance and quality. Everyone who rides Swiss knows how fast they are, and most also comment on how long they last, typically several times as long as low cost bearings. ”

I have been skating twenty plus years. Bones Swiss are by far the best bearings on the market. They are smooth and fast and will last years if you take care of them by cleaning and lubing regularly. They run forty or fifty bucks a set. Bones also has some fairly new bearings that are ceramic and are supposed to be better than the steel Swiss ones. I’m sure they are great but I haven’t tried them nor do I know any skaters that have because a set cost 120 bucks. I skate China Bones currently. They are 20 bucks a set and are a very decent bearing for the price. I use them if I can’t afford the Swiss. Also I skate in the rain a lot and at the beach getting grit in them and I don’t always clean my bearings so the China Bones I don’t feel as bad about trashing. Go with the Swiss Bones. Every other brand of bearing I have tried has eventually locked up or just plain exploded.

I have heard black panther bearings are pretty dope. Shorty distributes them… so i know they are great quality. The panthers are affordable as well
