How did the Boxing Day Nor'easter affect you?

Asked by faye (17857points) December 27th, 2010

My daughter was afraid her flight might be delayed or cancelled to Maine. But her flight flew and landed only a few minutes late.

It wasn’t too bad by the time it reached me…no power loss,

20–25cm of snow….only 10–15cm of snow left after the rain started….alot of rain 30–45mm of rain total…

Gave me an excuse to eat too much Christmas candy after digging out. And digging out. And digging out. And digging out. Now I’m sore, but dug out.

It missed us completely. Thank goodness. I had enough of that last winter.

Nearly three feet of snwo in less than 24 hours! We got home fine from my son’s and then were snowed in for nearly two days. Freezer pickings were poor, but plenty of Christmas cookies and chocolate to munch on. The plows came through at 10 p.m. last night.

It wasn’t too bad for us. We got about a foot of snow, maybe a bit less. It’s hard to tell because the wind was so strong and the snow got blown all over the place. We were away for Christmas and got home just as the snow started to fall. No loss of power or damage from the wind, and my husband is a bit sore from all the shoveling!

Two of my kids got sick late in the day on Christmas, but luckily their doctor was open yesterday afternoon. I didn’t have any trouble getting them there or picking up their prescriptions (strep throat for both of them! ugh!) as far as the roads were concerned, but running around in that wind with the snow blowing in my face was awful! I’d have been much happier at home with a cup of coffee, but I guess it was better than having the kids sick for all of Christmas.

It was a Sunday, so it didn’t matter too much. Most of the snow came overnight, so in the morning the big thrill was shoveling the sidewalks. I’ve got the week off, as do the kids, so things were pretty lazy. Today we went over to the park to do some sledding. Later I tried to get the computers to see each other again. Not happening. Sigh.
