New years eve at the stroke of midnight : Where do you anticipate being at that time & who will be sharing your company?

Asked by ucme (50047points) December 28th, 2010

Pretty much speaks for itself as you can see. For us this new year will be seen in at home. Why go out right? Plenty to eat & drink, good company & the kids can stay up late to share the experience. Sounds absolutely awesome to me! How about your plans for the night in question?

I have every intention of going out to the bar to celebrate…. so that means I will probably be in bed sleeping cause I really just don’t care… it’s just another day that the wheels on the bus go round and round :)

Hopefully at a ballroom with a glass of champagne in hand.

Not really sure… and not really 100% sure (though I have an idea).... I know how I wish I would be spending it though (as incredibly unlikely as that is to be).

Dull old me, I may or may not watch the ball drop…maybe I’ll be asleep… I’ve discovered the joys of greeting the new year well-rested and feeling good.

There is a hotel near here that has a great party we try to go to every year. Live big band dancing for the adults and DJ for the kids in the next room!

Playing Mah Jong online, or sleeping. Alone.

At home, watching the Hogmanay special on BBC 2 and toasting the new year in with my partner, and a wee dram o’ Scotch.

Maybe quite a few wee drams…

Asleep, in bed – with my wife drooling and snoring next to me.

I haven’t been able to stay up that late in years.

I’ll probably be sitting on my ass playing Cowadooty on the Xbawks, or munching on gourmet cheese and crackers on the interwebz.

I’m not really into the whole New Year thing… It’s just another day for me.

I will be watching Hogmanay Live on BBC One Scotland with a bottle of beer and a small whisky.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard Yeah, an enjoyable romp on the eggbox, pwning noobsters on the ops of a black variety. Can think of worse ways to spend the evening for sure.

@ucme, haha, I like the way you put that….

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard Retrieve that tongue from your cheek youngling ~ Fallout New Vegas is a lot of fun too. I “stole” it off my son, who for some reason can’t get into it. Ah well, all donations gratefully accepted.

@ucme, I actually hugely prefer the Fallout games to the Call of Duty series. I’m on my second play through of New Vegas now, actually. My first character was a morally righteous gunslinger who fought for the NCR. My character now is a morally ambiguous, super intelligent energy weapons character who is fighting for an independent New Vegas. Awesome game.

I will definitely be with my boyfriend. It’s up in the air at the moment whether we will be at his house with his daughter or going out. It depends on whether we end up having her that night or not.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard You’re not wrong there man, although I have to confess COD has me in it’s corporate clutches….at least for now.

At home with my dog. She’s so frightened of the fireworks that are let off in the neighbourhood that if I went out and left her in the flat on her own I would come back to find it in a very sorry state.

We will be home. It will be my husband, my son, and me. We are planning to stay up playing board games, munching on snacks, and watching the ball fall on tv. We actually went out today and bought our snacks for the night. :)

Casino boat in Evansville, Indiana. wife and i plan on bringing in the new year with a bottle of champagne and a kiss or two. 2010 was a fantastic year for us and i truly believe 2011 will be even better.

ChocolateReigns's avatar

I’ll be spending the evening with friends from church. Great people and great times. 2010 has been an amazing year and I can’t wait until 2011. I’m having a hard time believing 2011 is actually almost here!

wundayatta's avatar

I will no doubt be next to my wife—or at least in the house with her. We might be watching TV, but then again, we might be headed off to bed.

Anyone want to be my friend? I have a bottle of champagne that’s been sitting in the fridge far too long. It’s about time to celebrate the arrival of an odd numbered year—which is guaranteed to be better for me.

YARNLADY's avatar

My son and his wife are coming here for the night, so we’ll probably watch movies and eat.

Home with my wife. The folks in this neighborhood set off fireworks at midnight. We’ve been doing it for many years. I’ll lob a few toward my neighbor’s place. He’ll lob a few back at mine. It’s tradition and great fun!
Happy New Year! Boom!
