How can I run electronics in the cold, snowy outdoors?

I host a football game in the snow every year. Each year, I set up a boombox running on batteries to play music during the game, but the last several years the cold has sapped the life out of the batteries before the game began. Do you have any suggestions on how to either keep the batteries warm or an alternate idea to provide music to a remote field?
