@hawaii_jake LOL

You don’t!

Everything in life operates on a cyclic nature. Cycles within cycles etc.

For instance, winter signifies a time of rest and hibernation for many species of plants and animals, including humans. Our blood thickens, we tend to put on some extra weight and feel less energetic at times.

The best thing to do is be in touch with your own own bio rhythems and honor the cycles.

To expect to be high energy all the time is unrealistic and will lead to disappointment.

Eat well, rest well, and have realistic expectations.

The first thing that popped into my mind is “what is wrong with you?” Not to get too heavy about it, but in my experience, people who want to do this kind of thing are running from something deep inside. Usually some kind of demon or another. They escape into constant work and constant upness so they never have to face the demon.

You can keep that up for a while, but not forever. Eventually the demon catches you, but, instead of being a pitbull demon, it’s now a raging boar demon.

But you didn’t ask for a warning. The way you do this is that you shut out all other thoughts. You never stop. Work, work work. Don’t let yourself feel tired. Remember, if you stop, there’s that demon to face, and you gotta keep running. Just remember the demon. He is huge and ferocious and if you stop being up for one second, he’ll get you.

I agree with @wundayatta

His psychological ‘take.’

Usually those that are ‘addicted’ to constant activity are running from some inner demons.

My approach was more on the physical side of things, but..now that he mentions it, yep, often very true.

It’s not natural to remain motivated, energetic and up all the time.

People who are completely energized all the time may be bipolar. I understand you can also have this kind of energy on some drugs too. Neither is healthy.
On the other hand, Individuals have differing energy levels. Some are high energy . . . they move quickly, and have enthusiasm and endurance. Others move slowly and seemed lower keyed in general. Metabolism is involved and it’s an individual characteristic. Talk to your doctor about it.

The only constant in life is change. Therefore, as so many others have stated, it’s unnatural to always feel motivated and enthusiastic. Two things that I would definitely recommend, however, to generally keep your energy up and to maintain a positive outlook on life are daily meditation and exercise.

I can’t stand people who appear peppy and energetic at all times

You can’t do that ALL the time. Your body and mind works in cycles as do the challenges of a job. All you can do is stay organized, focused and take breaks when needed. I find getting up from it for small breaks if nothing more than a bio walk or the stretch works. It all depeneds on what you do for work too.
Consistency is key.
