I want to set up either a video feed or a stream from my computer, visible to someone at a remote site. What's the easiest way to do this?

I'm trying to setup up a party with my best friend -- we have the same birthday, and thought it would be cool to have a TV at each of our places showing each other's party in realtime, so people could interact with this virtual fourth wall as if they were at the other person's party (he lives in LA, I live in NY). We figure it'd be easier to setup a feed to do this rather than using Skype or Google to videoconference; that way, each of us will get two computers dedicated to the tasks of uploading and downloading.

I would think that using skype between your two computers would be a LOT easier than streaming video on two different machines... and you'd get better synchronicity. What kind of computers do you have? What kind of cameras?
