Are there any websites to meet new people for the purpose of friendship and networking, not dating?

Yes. I have met some really great people while Geocaching. We maintained contact and do things (not necessarily geocaching related) together regularly. Parties, breakfasts, funerals, ... It’s great.

Join a volunteer organization in your city or town i.e. Civitan, Junior Chamber of Commerce or Rotary. Also book clubs, alumni groups or musical association.

Meetup. They have different groups in most cities that cater to people who share interests.

Yes, I am a ‘Meetup’ subscriber, tons of activities etc. Fun!
I do a Saturday art walk and wine tasting thing in my local tourist community, so much fun!

My daughter succesfully uses an online site where people meet to ski, bike, swim, hike, raft, play tennis, etc.

For example, if you are spending five days in Boulder on business and want to do something outdoors with like-minded people, it is easy.

Oops. I just noticed that you are in the UK. Find clubs or activities related to your hobbies and recreational passions.
