Is creating a donation eBay listing against eBay policy, or "bad"?

I see listings on eBay of items the seller “wants” and they clearly state they aren’t selling anything, they just would like a donation to help buy this item. I actually am considering to make a donation listing too seeing that people actually have bidded on these listings.

I don’t think “Send me one dollar!” will be acceptable these days, although it did work in the 1950s.
if you log into eBay you get the option of searching ‘Completed Listings’ so you can see actual selling prices. When you do that, be aware that they include items which didn’‘t actually sell.
