Could anyone give me advice to aid my job hunting?

I live in the UK and I have been job hunting for a while now, but to no avail.

I have a dual honours degree in Biology and Biochemistry, however I have had very few offers on that front as the Government is removing funding from the research sector.

Because of this I’ve been forced to search for roles that incorporate my experience in management that I gathered in retail.

I’m very confident in my abilities, confident with the public and in my computer skills.

To be quite honest, I would like some ideas more than anything;

What areas should I consider?
What should I put on my CV to help me to get a position?
What would you look for in a potential employees CV?
Are you aware of anywhere that I should apply?
