Why does everybody love Dead Poets Society?

Why does everybody love Dead Poets Society? I’ve never seen the film but for some reason, everybody adores, the movie. Why?

Because its wonderful. Very powerful movie.

Because it’s about Fighting the Power! Teenage Rebellion! and finally, a teacher not trying to make robots – one that cares and we all wish we’d had…

Its also about love, and regret, and what happens when you stifle people who need to be free (and if I keep thinking about that movie more, i’m going to start crying)...

I thought it was awfully hackneyed and formulaic.

Not to be a total hipster but… the book was better. and even it lacked depth and emotion.
