Is Endosulfan bio-degradable?

Asked by ritikabhatt (8points) January 25th, 2011

Endosulfan, a pesticide has been in the light recently for causing health hazards. However, this pesticide is been used all over the world, problems seem to be arising only in Kerala, India.

I want to know if this pesticide is bio- degradable.

Even if Endosulfan breaks down, the problem in Kerala is the mass quantity that is being applied to the government owned plantations and the fact that people live downstream of the water run-off.
The pesticide half-life is not fast enough since the people are being exposed very early in the process.
