What artist am I thinking of?

Asked by TexasDude (25274points) January 26th, 2011

A semester or two ago there was an artist featured in the big new art gallery at my school. I instantly fell in love with his work, but neglected to write down his name, and I’ve been trying to figure out who he was ever since.

Basically, his body of work consisted of mostly aerial views of subdivisions and suburbs. No people were featured in the paintings, and the level of detail was relatively low. Colors were mostly muted or pastel, and a few of the paintings featured suburban culdesacs that just went in circles.

Does anyone know who I’m thinking of?

Richard Diebenkorn?

His work seems to closely follow your criteria. During certain periods he did a few more traditional things, but his landscapes were his more lauded works.

@iamthemob, nope, but I’ve never heard of her and I enjoy her work. Thanks anyway. Oh yeah, I should have mentioned, I’m almost positive that the artist I’m thinking of is man.

@eden2eve, nope. Not him, though I do like him.

@WasCy, lol, no.

@Cupcake, he was very similar to Ross Racine, only his work was in color. It looks almost exactly the same though. Terence Osmond is actually one of my favorite artists.

I checked the show schedule for the past year or two at my art building, and couldn’t find any info there :-/

Here is more of his suburban series and the thought process behind the series as described by the artist.

(Let me know if this is not the one you are looking for. I can continue the search)
