Good level of personal hygiene and a sense of personal style – which can be sleek, professional, casual or even grunge, as long as you make it work. The rest varies from person to person.

trim everything and I mean everything. Also a good cologne. Clean socks and underwear. If you can’t see inside your ears, ask someone, most people would be happy to tell you the truth LOL

I’m sure it varies from woman to woman, but I’ll give you my preference.

Clean socks and underwear, always. Minimal facial hair – if you have any it should be trimmed, neat, etc. Mustaches are almost always bad. Be aware of nose hair. Hair “down there” trimmed, but not shaven. Shower every day or every other day. Brush your teeth at least twice a day, bonus points for flossing and mouthwash. Clean your ears once a week. Wear a nice smelling and NOT OVERPOWERING deoderant. Cologne is nice for special occasions, as long as it is not too strong. (Boy smell is good. Heavy musky colognes are not. Neither is body odor.) Get a decent haircut (no matter what length your hair is) and make sure you don’t have dandruff – get a dandruff shampoo if it’s an issue for you. Keep hair products to a minimum. Keep your fingernails and ESPECIALLY your toenails trimmed.

Wear clean clothes, and keep it simple.

Use a decent face wash and moisturize + sunscreen!! I cannot stress this enough!!!

Also make your bed.

Don’t forget to shave or wax hair on your upper back and keep chest hair trimmed. No carpets please.

@eadinad, Why the emphasis on toenails being trimmed? I know they should be kept trimmed, but it seems somewhat random to choose to emphasize that particular point over many others I would think to be a little higher up on the priority scale (like bathing). Just wondering what that was all about—sorry to intrude on your female discussion.

Just try to shower everyday if you can. Dental hygiene is very important to me.

Wax our backs and trim our chest hairs? What are you nuts?

I just had part of my chest shaved in preparation for surgery and this damn thing is itching like crazy. It’s very distracting and if you try not to think about it, of course you think about it.
It really does itch.

I wouldn’t do it voluntarily if you paid me. Of course when the surgeon demands it, that is another story.

really, srmorgan? you think women’s skin is itch-proof? I take it you appreciate your women shaved – it goes both ways and you learn how to deal with it

@ gorillapaws -

I didn’t necessarily mean that toenail trimming is the most important aspect of hygiene, just that I find long toenails pretty disgusting. : )

This is more popular in some aras than others, but a pedicure is one of the best things a guy can do before jumping into bed with a woman. It’s starting to catch on here in AZ and I’m all for it! Nothing takes the place of being clean, but great feet take it up a notch!

gorillapaws's avatar

geez, we need pedicures now? That’s not just one notch by the way, that’s like getting a new belt…

LOL – its pays off. I promise you!

“I said I wanted to be kissed, not exfoliated!”

Please shave your face often. This is not an aesthetic issue. Guys, when you have five o’clock shadow, it can really hurt our cheeks, chins, and lips when you kiss us. We really like to be kissed, and we want it to be really nice, not painful. ;-)

My 4-year old gives me a straightarm if I try to kiss him without having a clean shaven face..

Shave, shave, and shave.
