How do you find out the soundtrack of a random video?

Asked by Anatelostaxus (1428points) January 30th, 2011

I don’t mean how to extract the audio from it, I know of some sites that provide that service (though only from youtube).
It occurs that I find videos throughout the net with a music put to it that I don’t recognise and would like to know the artist / composer.
Is there any way you know.
Of course I could post the video on a bolg by linking it and ask the users.. but that wouldn’t give a certain outcome.

Just use soundhound. It works great.

If you don’t have an iPhone or iPod, you can use the online service Midomi, which would work in the same way, but I have found more success with soundhound.

would this work even if I have n way of knowing any details?

Or better.. in particular I’m looking for an electronica / dance track.. Midomi asks me to sing the tune.. but what if there’s a way to use the link’s url?

not sure, if you have headphones and a mic, you could just play the video and put the headphones right next to the mic with midomi.

Try IMDB.com, type in the name of the movie and it should bring up all the information of the movie. That way you might be able to find the sound track.

I generally use my phone running shazam and just play the video during a snippet I know has no dialogue or anything.

video2mp3.net does extract audio from most sites like dailymotion, limewire and like 5 others. I can’t find the list anymore though
